The Arts at Opus99
Share your talent among friends
|
| Are you a visual artist? A musician? A poet? Would you like to show your creative work in a safe, intimate environment and among friends? Please join us here at Opus99, every other month at Christ the King Presbyterian Church for an evening of coffee, pastries and a variety of visual and performing arts. Admission is free.
Visual Arts:The event is held in our Fellowship hall where art is displayed at one end and the stage set up at another. Guests (typically 40-50 people) have the freedom to mingle, explore the visual work or sit and listen to the music of local professional and amateur musicians. Although the room is lovely (some windows, high ceiling, wood floor), we are admittedly, lacking appropriate wall space. The overall feeling is low-key, but it is a chance to get your work out there, even sell it if you are interested. We do have sufficient capacity for 3-dimensional work. We are especially interested in educating our audience by hearing from the artists about their process, media and content. We often host collaborative shows with a theme, but are equally interested in showing solo artists.
Music and Other Performing Arts: Opus99 is what you would call an “intimate venue” for performing.
While there is a designated area for the audience, guests are also free
to peruse the art display, enjoy good eats, and engage in quiet
conversation. This environment is particularly suited to acoustic
sounds, although we have hosted our share of rock stars. The church supplies a
great sound system that accommodates two vocal and two instrument
channels. It has a remote controller that is easy to use. Please let us know if you have any
particular sound needs. We will
have a music stand and a stool or chairs. Content: This event is friendly for sacred and non-Christian art alike. Please know that we are interested in celebrating beauty, inquiry and the complexity of the creative process. If that is too vague for you, just contact us with any questions. |
